It's beginning to a look a little like Christmas

The Sunday after our belated Thanksgiving, we got out the boxes of Christmas decorations and tried to get as close to Christmas as we could.

The first step was to set up our fake tree.  Neither Jeff nor I have ever had a fake tree before, so we had a moment of panic when he first set it up, and it was not fluffy at all.  Vivian was devastated and said it was the worst tree ever.  Luckily, before tears were shed, we realized that you have to fluff the branches yourself.

When I told this story to a friend of mine who is a veteran user of fake trees, she laughed so hard she cried.  I'm glad that our near tragedy turned into comedy.

Jeff worked on the top branches, Vivian worked on the bottom branches, and I crawled into our storage area under the stairs to dig out the Christmas boxes.  We are very lucky that all of our Christmas things arrived all in one piece.  Many of our friends either didn't get their Christmas things or got the broken pieces.  All of our ornaments made it and Vivian had a lot of fun putting them on our newly fluffed tree.

Since we don't have a fireplace here, we hung our stockings along the top of the stairs.

All the snowmen, Christmas village buildings, and banister lights made it too, and once everything was set up and lit up, it looked really nice.

Once the village was set up, Vivi's toys came to visit.  Batman and Wonder Woman are on the left.

Jeff took some pictures from the toys' point of view, and the village is actually really cool from that perspective.

Inside the house we can pretend like it's really Christmas.  Outside is another story.  I put the snowmen outside, and they look okay in a picture, but in real life it's weird to be standing next to the snowman and sweating because it's 90 degrees and 90 percent humidity outside.  I guess we'll get used to it.
