Halloween and Thanksgiving

We were delighted to feel the weather get colder as it became fall. Much as we love Malaysia, the constant heat and humidity was not our favorite. The school had a a Halloween Spooktacular with a stage set up outside for live performances. Both girls got a chance to perform, which was great.

Viv's full pirate costume was a lot of fun.

But after Halloween, it was back to school.

Still, Viv found ways to dress up. Her friends recommended a store in downtown Amman called Authentage that, for some reason, had a lot of 80s style clothes and things made of velvet.

Even though it was a bit of a crazy store, she managed to find an absolutely gorgeous green velvet dress there, that wasn't expensive at all.

And it gave her the perfect outfit to wear to be my date to the Marine Ball.

In November, she went to Sicily for an international theater convention where she had ridiculous amounts of fun while Elena, Jeff, and I went back to the States for Thanksgiving. We missed Vivi, but Elena had a lot of fun with her cousins.

Plus, there is something special about my mom's, traditional, full sized turkey, as opposed to my spatchcocked one.

Elena decided that the turkey legs were her favorite. They reminded her of the Medieval Times show we went to, and so she proceeded to claim all turkey legs that came in her vicinity.

She also decided that she wanted to dye her hair with blue highlights, since blue is her favorite color. She missed some school for our trip, so we documented the hair dying process, and she used it as her science experiement.

The end result was pretty impressive.

When we went to the neighbor's house for a second Thanksgiving, everyone admired her hair. She thanked them, and claimed the turkey leg.

It was tough to to do the two long flights in the course of a week, but Elena definitely had a good time in Virignia.
