Vivi's Awesome Weekend

Vivi has been very happy about the new enclosed porch area.  She has decided it has been set up for her to hang out in.  This means that she is under Young's feet a bit when she is trying to do the laundry, but Young's a good sport about it.  On Friday, Young and I got curtains and a rug to fully finish up the space.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I know Young is too.  We moved the kitchen table into this area, so she has place to fold clothes, and then she can sit at the table to eat and hang out in the evenings.  This was theoretically supposed to give her some more privacy, but Vivian decided that this was an open invitation to Young's bedroom.  She's particularly interested in the Buddha Young has in her room and was praying to it when she wasn't sitting on Young's bed watching Thai TV.

Young usually goes to the temple on the weekend, so since Vivian seemed so interested, Young brought her along.  Vivian brought her camera and got some great pictures.

There was a park with a playground, so Vivian got to play.  She thought the whole experience was awesome.

Sunday morning also started off well for Vivian.  Jeff took her with him to the Villa supermarket to get groceries, and he bought her the latest issue of Sparkle World, her new favorite magazine.

Yes, it's very pink, and the title is ridiculous, but the content is not that bad.  There are spelling and math games, stories to read, and puzzles to solve.  It makes her happy, and it doesn't rot her brain, so we indulge her.

Her Sunday just kept getting better after that.  She was invited to a class member's birthday party which was being held at a place called Funarium.  It's basically a huge indoor playground.  They also have party rooms upstairs where they offer lots of different entertainment packages.  This party had a clown and a magician.

The Funarium is downtown and well outside of my current driving range, but luckily we're friends with another 1st grade family, and the mom is very comfortable driving downtown.  She gave us a ride, we dropped the kids off, and she and I went to the mall next door for grown up fun.

The mall was partially open air and there were mister fans all around.  There was also a farmers market happening on Sunday, so we had fun looking around at all the produce as well as things like baked goods, jewelry, and handmade soap.  We had lunch at a restaurant in the mall, and then went back to retrieve the kids who had thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Overall, not a bad weekend for our six year old :-)
