Exploring in Beynac

After all the rushing around of the past week, we were ready for a lazy Sunday in beautiful surroundings.  Unfortunately, "lazy" doesn't exactly work with small children.  Luckily, my dad is also an early riser, so he helped me keep the girls entertained.

Once Jeff got up, he took Vivian down the hill to explore.

They found the new post office.

And took a picture from the main part of town looking up the hill towards our house, the old church, and the top of the old castle's tower.

They found lots of pretty and interesting things to take pictures of, and then they headed back up the hill.

On Monday, my parents and Judy had reservations for lunch at a Michelin star restaurant.  The Goerss contingent decided to do a slightly more low key outing.  We walked down to the river to check out the little Monday market they have in Beynac.  We found a strawberry and raspberry stall,

as well as a regular fruit and vegetable stall.

It's always fun to see what produce is like in different countries.  For example, they had purple bell peppers, which I don't think I've ever seen before.

The best find at the market though, was a crepe truck.  Vivian got a Nutella crepe and Jeff got a ham and cheese one.

From the windows of the house we had seen a tour boat floating by.

As we were sitting and eating crepes, we realized that the place to buy tickets and get on the boat was right next to us, so we bought tickets and got on the next one.  It was fun to get a different view of things.

We enjoyed our outing, and got back to the house at about the same time as the other half of our group.  The rest of the afternoon was devoted to relaxation.  The house had a small piece of grass with loungers, so Vivian and my dad set up a reading area there.

Later that evening, we all ended up hanging out in the living room area.

I love family vacations :-)
