Performance Highlights

The girls are constantly doing amazing things, so I think the easiest is to just combine them into one blog entry. Viv made IASAS Drama again, and this year they performed a one act version of The Importance of Being Earnest. Viv played Ms. Prism, which was the perfect role for her comedic abilities. Jeff missed the main ISKL performance, because he was out of town for work, but the director allowed him to watch their pre-travel dress rehearsal. It was very kind of her, since she's usually very strict about people coming to dress rehearsals.

Elena and I went to see the show though and represent the Viv fan club.

Viv definitely stole the show.

We sent her off to Manila to participate in the convention, and she had a wonderful time. She got to stay at a huge house with several of her friends, and it was definitely one of her best high school experiences so far. With Jeff gone for work too though, Elena and I were especially happy to welcome her back home.

She also performed beautifully at her final choir concert of the year,

and had a lot of fun at the 24 hour jam where a group of students spent the night at the school and had 24 hours to devise a performance which they then put on the next day.

She passed her Grade 5 singing exam with distinction, and she got another opportunity to perform at the piano recital for Miss Cheryl's students. She's been working a bit on piano, but it's really in support of her singing, so they decided singing was the way to go.

Elena, on the other hand, has been doing a fantastic job on the piano. She played a Chopin nocturne, and we were super proud of her.

She's been working on "Clair de Lune" and "Fur Elise", and she's getting quite good at them. She also spends a lot of time working on her martial arts skills. For a while she did a Saturday mixed martial arts class, and with her consistent karate practice, she's gotten all the way up to purple belt.

She's also really been enjoying soccer and swimming. We'll see what she sticks with in Amman, but it's great that she's trying lots of things.

We are so proud of our girls. They are talented, but they also work really hard at the things they choose to pursue, and that is the most important part.
