Rolling into Summer

Once the girls were done with school, I still had another week of work.  Luckily, it was pretty low key work without all the students there, so we were able to get in some fun before leaving for the States.  I finally had time to take the girls to see Aladdin.

They absolutely loved it.  I know the original by heart, so I was hesitant to see the remake, but I think they did a really good job with it.

Vivi also had one last Spanish lesson before we left, and her teacher chose to focus on different types of Colombian dances.  She even brought special outfits for the girls.  They were a big hit.

Before we left, we found time for a nice family lunch at one of our favorite French restaurants.

The next day we were on the plane headed to the U.S.. Even though the five hour flight isn't short, it's such an improvement over the 24 hours of travel it took to get to the U.S. from Thailand.  Judy came to pick us up at the airport, which was a nice treat.  The girls were so excited to see her, that they claimed her for the back seat.

Our first order of business was a quintessential American experience, shopping at Target.  We had several items on our list, but the one we had the most fun with was a new bathing suit for Jeff.  He had asked for something plain black, but Judy had other suggestions.

For some reason, Jeff did not pick her preferred option.

The next day, the top priority was new sneakers, so we went to the New Balance store at Potomac Mills.  The girls found things they liked, and even though it took quite a while, they behaved well.  That earned them the treat of what was supposed to be one thing each at the Disney store.  This seemed like an excellent plan, until they saw the box of Disney princess dolls.  Mom had already caved on the unicorn headband, so it was just a short leap to the box of dolls.

With all of those things out of the way, we were ready for our super social week ahead.  We had friends coming to visit as well as friends in the area we wanted to see.
