Wrapping Up the Summer

After we got back from our road trip adventures, we only had about another week left in the States.  The girls went back to camp.  Elena's had a firefighter theme.

Vivian did a short skit around a game of DnD where she was the game master.

We also tried to fit in as much time as possible with family and friends.  Judy got a new job which required some celebration.

Ramona came to visit, and she gave the girls a bubble maker, which was a huge hit.

It came in handy when I had to keep Elena busy on Saturday.

Jeff and Vivian were off enjoying the ultimate birthday present, tickets to Hamilton!

It exceeded even their high expectations.

Eventually though, it was time to go back to Bogotá.  Luckily, we got to take Mom with us.  The girls and I took her to one of our new restaurant discoveries, Balzac, to enjoy mussels.  Elena has become a true mussels addict.  She insisted on having her own order.

We also had to pay our respects at BBC.

To add to the fun, my dad came to stay with us as well, and we all went to visit the newest member of our friend family, before going out for more food and fun at the Parque de Chico.

The weather was fantastic, so we took full advantage of it.  Dad also got to come with us to swimming and see Vivi in action.

He had also read about Teatro Colon in La Candelaria part of Bogotá, and he really wanted to see it.  We got lucky, and the Colombian National Symphony was giving a concert while he was in town.  We also got unlucky in that it was one of the two nights a year that Bogotá had evening ciclovia, meaning half the roads were closed.  We almost missed the show.  We finally got out of the taxi and made a run for it.  We got there just before they closed the doors.  The theater was fantastic as was the music.

We had one other adventure to Hacienda Coloma that I'll write about in a separate blog.  Then it was time for my dad to go home and then my mom as the girls and I all started up our regular school schedules.  It was especially hard to say goodbye to Mom who had been with us for two months at that point.  The girls are loving school though, and I'm really enjoying the classes I'm teaching. Things are going well, and we have our next vacation adventures to look forward to.
